Having pioneered the establishment of Turkey’s first Industrial Design Department in 1971 under the Academy of Fine Arts and serving as its Head until 1980, Küçükerman has held numerous academic and administrative positions at various universities. He served as the President of the Institute of Industrial Design Research and Publications (E.T.A.Y.E.), founded in 1979, and later as the founder and director of the Industrial Design Research Center (E.T.A.M.), established in 2000 at Mimar Sinan University. Between 1984 and 1992, he worked as an advisor to the Prime Ministry/State Ministry and the Ministries of Tourism and Culture, preparing projects aimed particularly at the comprehensive organization, development, and strengthening of traditional industrial resources in Turkey from design and creativity perspectives. He served as a member of the board of directors at Sümerbank/Sümerhalı and undertook design management roles. With the objective of advancing design thinking and resources within industry, he founded and served on the boards of numerous foundations. Küçükerman continues to work as a design manager, designer, consultant, and design coordinator for many institutions and organizations. His body of work includes extensive scientific and artistic research, publications, designs, and television programs across fields such as Industrial Design, Creativity, The Turkish House, Traditional Design in Anatolia, Carpet Weaving, Glass Industry, Porcelain and Ceramic Art, Apparel Industry, Automotive Industry, Industrial and Design Heritage, National Palaces, and Fine Arts, along with more than fifty published books.
